Systems such as RAID have vastly increased the reliability of computer systems. RAID systems now deliver Functional Redundancy, which goes well beyond the scope of the original Berkley paper. Whilst RAID delivers uninterrupted data flow in a transparent manner to users it is essential that administrators are aware of status changes immediately. A method for managing Storage Array (JBOD and RAID) Enclosures is the SCSI-3 Enclosure Services Command Set (SES).
