EMC China 2008 Achievement and 2009 Strategy

March 3, 12 days before EMC China Five-Year Plan’s two-year-old birthday, Ye Chenghui, EMC Great China president and his team were present at EMC China 2009 business promotion strategy press conference named "Integrate Advantages to Thrive in Weak Economies" held in Beijing. Different from the EMC Chinese Five-Year Plan press conference, those along with Ye Chenghui was not only Fan Chenggong, “Head” of EMC China R & D Center, but also EMC China’s great achievements the team fought for during the past two years.    

The most attractive part of EMC China’s Five-Year Plan is the aim of its software growth in China, not only because EMC is not a 100% software vendors, but also because Ye Chenghui boasted "doubling every year"—almost an impossible task–attracts media’s attention, though on many occasions Ye Chenghui said EMC China’s software market share was not large yet.

According to EMC China 2008 “report card”, EMC China successfully achieved the goal of doubling software revenue. CMA, RSA and BuRA increased last year. The rate that EMC China storage software sales accounting for EMC China total sales was up 3 points, however still below 40 percent as Ye Chenghui noted. And that’s also below the average level of EMC global. Ye Chenghui said they started to feel the stress.

In addition to the outstanding results in terms of software, EMC China did a great job in aspects below, demonstrated healthy growth of EMC China and Ye Chenghui’s brilliant leadership:

1, EMC China third-quarter 2008 external disk storage system market share reached 28%.

2, For the full year, EMC China’s distribution sales were doubling. Recruited more than 1000 secondary agent, EMC also gained 1000 new customers in China. In the first half of 2008, EMC China set up five subsidiaries located in Fuzhou, Hangzhou, Jinan, Kunming and Urumqi.

3, EMC still leads Chinese external disk storage market with five percent higher market share than the second player. EDL VTL and Avamar sales grew exponentially.
